InSite Vigil at Victory Square!
Come on out for a gathering of InSite supporters this Saturday, May 31st!
Meet at Victory Square Park at 12:00 noon for live entertainment, a BBQ, and a chance to remember lives lost to drug addiction and to celebrate those saved by InSite.
The weather report says it will be "hot and sunny" so don't forget your sunscreen - a more widely supported form of harm reduction.
However, on the off chance that the weather report is wrong (which never happens) this event will be happening rain or shine.
Thanks everyone! See you there!
Hosted by Friends of InSite.
Novel music video points to surveillance downside - uses cctv to record video
Band's use of security cameras shows how much people are routinely monitored David Akin Canwest News Service
Friday, May 23, 2008
OTTAWA -- Up-and-coming British rock band The Get Out Clause had a problem. The group's members -- students struggling to make ends meet -- wanted a music video, but did not have the money to hire camera crews to film it.
So the band came up with a clever idea. They'd use the ubiquitous security cameras positioned on busy streets, at transit stops, outside ATMs, and even on city buses to record their video. And so, over a few weeks, they recorded nearly 100 takes of their single Paper in front of dozens of these cameras, even setting up their guitars and drum kit in the middle of a busy intersection so that it could be taped by the ever-present city surveillance cameras.
